Weekend Recap (June 27-29, 08)

What a weekend.. what a weekend..
Friday I started out cleaning the house, though you couldn't tell that now. Then in the late afternoon I thought I would go swimming with the kids over at my parents house, after all the 3 younger ones were going to spend the night there anyways Friday night. ONLY as I'm driving over to my parents my van start to over heat so I pull over.. I then spent the next 5 hours of Friday dealing with the van stuff.. you know calling someone to come and get the kids, calling someone to come and look at the van.. finding out what is wrong with the van getting the van back home waiting for parts to fix the van. Good news is we know what is wrong with it, good news is we found the part.. new that i don't know if it is bad or good yet, is my dad isn't sure it is something he can do or not.. so we wait.. in the mean time I can drive it but not on long trips until we get the new part(which is one of the fans) put in.
DH and I were planning a date night of dinner and a movie after I got back from swimming at my parents.. ONLY with the van and all I didn't make it back home till after 8pm.. So we did our date night at home.. We ran to the movie store and rented some movies and then stopped for take out and came home and had our dinner and a movie on the couch.
With the 1st movie we had the recliners up and the table pulled down on the couch and we ate our food with our feet up and we watched this.
Our kids have seen it two or three times already but DH and I had never seen it We both really enjoyed it. For the 2nd movie we put the table away got a pillow and cuddled on the couch together and watched this.
Not a good movie, or at least we didn't think so..

Saturday we had to go and pick Princess up from camp.. oh my goodness did she have fun.. I have a few camp post I need to get posted but for now I'll just share with you this short video clip of Princess and her friend C.C. telling us about one of there many tubing exciting stories..
They both were so excited and couldn't stop talking and talking and talking.. and I thought it was really funny and cute so I pulled out the camera and without them knowing started to record.. after a bit Princess spotted the camera and wasn't to happy with me LOL..

After we picked her up we went out for lunch and then did the grocery shopping. When we got back Princess went swimming with some friends from town and then back to there house to spend sometime, while DH and I went and picked up the other kids who were with my parents(dad took the boys to his barber for hair cutes but I didn't get any pictures sorry) Then we went to my IL's house for dinner and stayed there till after 8pm. AT 9pm I was picking up Princess from her friends house and we came home and had another movie night everyone pulled out blankets and pillows and we watched This.

Good movie..
Sunday we woke up got dress went to Sunday school and church.. After church we made up our minds that we were going on vacation.. We are leaving at 3am on Monday morning and we will be home Wednesday night or Thursday night.. not sure which yet. So I spent all of Sunday afternoon running around like a mad women washing about 12 loads of laundry in order to pack It's pushing 11pm Sunday night and my last load of laundry is in the washer as I type and I haven't started to pack my cloths yet LOL.
I did get a little break in the action because Princess league team was having a make up game tonight about 40 minutes from here on the lake of all places(yes I have been spending alot of time up there LOL) It was really pretty a ball field right on the lake.. I took some really pretty pictures of that.. Then when the game start right after the 1st pitch was thrown it started to rain.. our girls got to bat and Princess was starting picture for our team as soon as we took the field it started to rain super hard.. she pitched to one batter when they called the game. But she found other ways to have fun. that would be playing in the pool of mud that use to be the ball field. Here is a short slide show from the ball park tonight.

I tell ya, those storms roll in off the lake really fast, it only rained about 10 minutes but boy it come down.
After that we came home ate dinner and here I am doing more laundry and blogging.. Should go pack seeing how I"m leaving in about 4 hours
I won't be around this week but I'm sure I'll come home with loads of stories for the blog..
have a wonderful week ya'll

June 08 Camping Trip Day 3 part 2

(GRRRRRRRRRR had to do this in two parts again, for some reason when I make one big post it messes up the layout of my blog.. So here is part 2 of day 3)

After we left the lighthouse we made up our minds that it was freezing the temp was dropping as the sun was setting some and the wind was blowing.. our options were to go back to camp and cook and eat and just basically be outside the rest of the time.. or take a break and go into a building to have dinner.. So we chose indoor After dinner we headed back to camp and the kids played on the playground, rode bikes and played baseball/softball with daddy. That night it was just to cold to be taking pictures of the campfire. But after the sun went down we built a great big campfire and sat outside close to the fire with blankets wrapped around us.. it was cold enough that DH and I thought we would throw the blue rain tarp over the tent in order to sort of isolate it to keep the heat from the little heater in the tent and not let it go right out the top.. It worked well that way because inside the tent that night we were all nice and warm and when we woke up the next morning we were all a bit too warm. But before going to bed that night I had to take another shot of the moon

That was the end of Day 3 of our Camping trip.

June 08 Camping Trip day 3 part 1

I have shared a few of the lake pictures I took from Day 3 of our camping trip in my Faith-Lift Friday post but here is my Day 3 camping post.
Day 3 was Wednesday June 18, 2008. we woke up and it was COLD!!!!!!!!! I mean really cold.. blue jeans and sweater cold. I don't think the high for the day got much higher then 60 degrees.. This cooler weather we were having was really messing with our plans for our camping trip.. We were camping on the lake with our plans being spending all day on the beach in the sand and water but when it doesn't go above 60 degrees one doesn't layout at the beach.
So when we woke up on Wednesday we thought we would just wait, and wait, and wait, to see if it warmed up any.. We played games at the campsite, took some a few hikes on the trails, played on the playground, played ball, just waited around to see if it would warm up any. IT Didn't so we thought we would go take a drive over to the light house. While on the drive Little Man fell asleep, something about playing hard all day and then getting in a carseat to put that kid to sleep.. Princess wasn't feeling too well so once we got to that part of the lake she just wanted to sleep in the van also. So that is why DH, Princess and Little Man are not in this slide show of our time on the lake, They were there with us, but in the van. It was Mr Man, Sweet Pea and myself who went exploring the rocks this day.

Faith-Lift Friday (June 29, 2008)

When I was younger like 9 years old I started going to church summer camp, not just the longer VBS day camps that churches have today as there vacation Bible schools.. but the sleep away summer camp sort of camp.. We had all the fun stuff one would think of when you think of summer camp but we also learned alot about God at camp.. We had morning and evening chapel, along with cabin devotions and a time set aside for personal devotions.
Since our summer camp was located on an Island of one of our great lakes, alot of times for cabin devotions and for our personal time with God we would go find ourselves a nice spot on the rocks next to the water..
I went to this camp from the time I was 9 years old till I was 17 years old every summer for a week. Then the summer of 1992 I spent the whole summer there on staff.
I grew in Christ and felt so close with my Lord during those years spent at camp and on those rocks.. Now I can't help but see the rocks and the shoreline and not think of God. Not only for his beautiful handy work of the lake and shorelines.. but for the work he has done in my life.. It like seeing those rocks and water always sets my heart and mind in a state of prayer and meditation on God.
We spent time on the rock of this great lake during our camping trip last week and I took some time to sit by the water and do my devotions and also some time to just be still and know God.
During this time my mind kept going to a few verses.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

By thinking of things that are honest, just, pure etc. and by setting our minds on things above and not on the things of this world. We can renew our minds and be transformed, so when the troubles of this life comes are way we can be at perfect peace. The conflicts of this life can be raging around us like a bad storm out on the lake, but we can be calm, our souls can be at rest and hidden from anything other then peace and love. What an amazing thing.. What an Amazing God. Thank you Jesus.
TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
(all pictures in this post was taken by me on day 3 of our camping trip at the lake which I'll be posting about sometime this weekend)

June 08 Camping Trip day 2 part 3(Thursday Thirteen)

If you have been following my blog this week then you know Last week we took the family camping.. If you haven't been reading my blog this week, well then Now you know ;P
This week for Thursday Thirteen I'm going to share with you all 13 pictures from our 2nd night of our camping trip.. June 17, 2008
If you have followed along I left off on day two while we were eating dinner..
Anyways after dinner it was late and already getting dark so we went back to the campground and made a camp firer.

#1 Princess, Mr Man and DH sitting watching the firer, those specks you see in the photo are ashes
#2 At this point in time it was starting to get really cold outside like dropping into the 50's see Princess trying to stay warm in her chair back there.
#3 Here is a shot of Sweet Pea by the fire.
#4 That night the kids also did sparklers.. Little Man calls them round and rounds. Why you ask?? Well because you move them round and round.
#5

#6

#7 Little Man was getting sleepy, he had had one busy day.. You can read about them in my other camping post which I will link to at the end
#8 Mr Man roasting a marshmallow for Smores.
#9 . Little Man sort of looked like he was going to fall asleep in his chair.. but he didn't want to go lay down in the tent, he kept saying "me go to my house" Since I didn't want him to cry by putting him in the tent when he wanted to go home I asked him if he wanted to watch a movie in the van. That made him happy so into the van we went made him a little bed in the back and pulled out the DVD player and turned on Cars. #10 Sweet Pea thought she would join in on the movie.
#11 It wasn't long before they were both asleep and ready to be moved into the tent.
#12 While the two younger two were watching a movie the older two were enjoying making smores and after they ate them they went to bed also.. I think all the kids were in the tent asleep by 12:30 AM#13 DH and I stayed out by the fire till about 1:30 AM and before heading into the tent I had to take another picture of the full moon.. This one turned out much better then the one I took on the 1st night of our camping trip. That is how we ended our 2nd day of camping.
